Ordering Your Graphics
Free Quotes
We WILL provide free quotes with .pdf files to test your lettering for size, fit, and looks, BEFORE you spend any money. We will gladly make changes to the quote, as needed, until it meets your final approval.
Please note:
Pricing
Our prices are roughly based on a minimum charge per transfer, plus the number of characters in your lettering, and overall size. Here are some representative samples:
"Colorado & Northwestern RR", 2 transfers for one passenger car; about $20
"C&NW RR", 2 transfers for a tender; about $6
"1", 2 transfers for loco cab; about $6
Prices will vary, depending on your requirements. Free quotes, with no obligation. Please contact us.
To Order - Tell us what you want
We prefer to get your input via e-mail, so we have it in writing, but feel free to call us to discuss your application.
What do you want your lettering to say?
What are the dimensions of the area you will be applying it to, so we can size it to fit.
Tell us the desired length or width of the lettering (this usually determines the font size).
What colors do you need? (See our Specification Guide for color choices)
Quantity? (One transfer for each side of the car)
A link or a photo is useful if you are trying to reproduce something.
Send us a file if you like, but we will almost always recreate your lettering in our software, so that we have more control over the final product. We can control character spacing, degree of boldness, line spacing, etc.
Specification Guide (Please read before ordering)
Fonts
Our most popular font is "Railroad Roman". We also use "Arial", "Bookman Old Style", "Georgia", "Lucida Fax", and "Rockwell" quite often. We can use any TrueType font, as long as it is fairly simple. i.e. No calligraphy or engraved fonts. Script, only if it is fairly large.
Our minimum lettering height is 3/16"H (20 point), including lower case letters.
You may also want to look at www.RailFonts.com for some specific railroad fonts. Check with us before purchasing these.
In some cases we may ask you to send us a copy of your .ttf font file for use on your order.
Approval files sent with our quote (.pdf)
Our quotes are returned via e-mail as attached .pdf files. If you cannot open them, please download this free software.
Adobe Reader
The graphics file we send you for approval has a line at the top of the page that should be exactly 9.0" long when printed out at 100% size. Most printers will reduce the size of this file by default. You need to check your printer properties and look for an option that says "Print to fit" or something similar. Uncheck that box.
Example Quote
The file shows only the outline of the lettering (the cutting lines); no colors. These are representative samples. Please check the invoice for colors and quantities.
This is exactly what your graphics or lettering will look like. Cut it out and test fit it on the model to insure it will work for you. If not, we will gladly make changes until it does.
