Track Odometer

Build your own Track Odometer car with our new Track Odometer assembly. Finally, answer the question of "How many feet of track do you have?". A reed switch triggered by magnets on the wheel of a car counts pulses to indicate feet traveled on the on-board display. Reset it to zero using the reset button, send it around the mainline, and read out the result! A built-in calibration routine allows you to install this tool on any car with any wheel diameter.

I bought the odometer kit from G scale graphics. I installed it in a Gondola car. The install was literally simple. It took me a couple of hours, mainly because I “over-engineered” the reed switch mounting to a Bachmann gondola truck. (I super-glued a couple of pieces of styrene to the truck frame.). Hooked up the two wires, inserted battery, calibrated on a 10’ stretch and it works flawlessly. Great gizmo for calculating operations and just knowing track distances. Well worth the bucks with the programming all done for you. Five Stars for this gadget. Will use it at NGRC2019 in Portland for operating sessions.

Since it needs to be calibrated, can this work with other scales?
