Revision 13X of the MyLocoSound Steam card has added a new 6 chime whistle. Programming the whistle type (Button 9) has changed the order of things around a bit, so be sure to use the latest copy of the instructions.
The latest software release for the MyLocoSound Steam card now includes an option for "Thomas the Tank" whistle. Button 9, option 4 will select it via your IR remote.
MyLocoSound has always been a great sound option for the line of Bachmann "Thomas" locos. Now it is even better! Significant improvements have been made to the American diesel sounds. The new heavy diesel sound simulates the EMD Dash-8, along with a prototypical sounding American horn.
Louder exhaust on notch up! Existing diesel customers can upgrade, if they wish. Just return the board to us for a fee of $15. The latest firmware release for the MyLocoSound steam board has a new whistle that varies in pitch when played. That, coupled with the fact that It is "Playable"; i.e. it will sound for as long as you hold down the button on your R/C transmitter, makes for a much more realistic sounding chime steam whistle. The basic pitch of the whistle is still user tuneable via the IR Remote, which allows you to choose the sound you like best.
When programming your steam card, you will most likely want to use the "Chime Whistle"; button 9, option 2 using your IR Remote. Most U.S. customers will also like the "U.S. Signal" control mode; button 6, option 3, which allows for a playable whistle while stopped, and a grade crossing signal when the loco is running. Your "Universal Sound Card" can be upgraded for a nominal fee of $15. New software releases for both Steam and Diesel are now available. The Steam board has a new chuff created from actual recordings, and the Diesel now has an option for a heavy diesel. Perhaps the most exciting changes for both, is the U.S. control mode option, which features U.S. style whistle/horn signals; 2 toots forward, 3 reverse, 1 stopped, as well as a grade crossing signal while running. While stopped, the Whistle or horn reverts to a playable whistle. Whistle/horn and bell can be triggered from track magnets or via R/C. Duration of the bell is user programmable. If you have already have the "Universal Sound Card" (photo below) and would like to take advantage of these new features, we would be glad to update it for a nominal fee of $15. Here is a quick non-professional recording of the new U.S. Steam sounds.

MyLocoSound has just released an updated version of their popular low cost Steam and Diesel boards. In addition to improved sounds and functions, as with previous boards, you can select different bells and whistles, and then tune them to whatever pitch you like. However, this is now easily done using any universal TV remote instead of turning pots on the board. MyLocoSound is compatible with all RailBoss controls, Air Wire, Revolution, RCS, and other systems. |
