Most of our "operations" are just continuous running. We always run at the same speed and direction (forward). All we really need to do is start and stop the loco, and watch it make automated station stops while enjoying a beverage or talking with visitors.
The Magnetic Critter Control meets that criteria. Starting/Stopping is done using a magnet to activate a reed switch hidden under the roof of the cab. So, no need to cut any holes or hide any knobs. The loco will accelerate and decelerate at a controlled rate during manual start/stops and for station stops. Both rate and running speed are user adjustable via pots located on the circuit board. Once adjusted to the desired speeds, there should be no reason to use them again.
Like the Enhanced Critter Control, automated station stops are available via track magnets. The user has the choice of either 100% stops or 50% random stops at power-up.
There is no built-in reverse, but that can easily be added, if desired, using a DPDT switch in series with the motor output.
The result is a simple to operate, simple to install control, lower cost control that takes up less space.
